Hot as Hell

I made it to Iquitos, a remote city in northern Peru, deep in the heart of the Amazon. Tomorrow, I take a speed boat three hours up the Amazon river. I will spend several days in a bungalow hovering on stilts over the Amazon. I hope to see pink dolphins, piranas, monkeys, and anacondas. I hope even harder that I don´t catch a glimpse of malaria. (Although, malaria might not be that bad; I hear that you get the chills when you have malaria. And it being 110 degrees and 4000% humidity, I wouldn´t mind having the chills right about now....) Be back in contact in several days. Is anybody reading this blog?????

I check it 10-12 times a day, sometimes as many as 20. ;)

Great photos, David, and it certainly appears you are really having a fantastic time meeting many wonderful people. Absolutely awesome.

All is well here, keeping your old office colleagues under control!

It's been a very cool, damp spring and we are all eager for some WARM weather. The city is beautiful, as you can imagine.

Thinking of you.
Stay safe and think of me occasionally over food and drink!

I'm reading. I am just too overwhelmed with jealously to respond.

Yes,I am a faithful reader!! Thanks for the updates and great pictures. I am, of course, envious of nearly everything...except for the malaria, extreme humidity, high altitude/breathing problems, poor sleeping and hygiene options etc. We had a great seder, complete with your nephew!!! We are calling him Tiger (Theo Gavra...Roth). What do you want as a graduation present??? YOur father, as usual, was useless in this department. Give me a clue about something you really want. Can't wait to talk with you upon your return. I love you much.

So tell me what I can get as a graduation present. Your father, of course, was useless in this department. What do you really want or need? Leather/lawyerly briefcase or something like that? We had a great seder, complete with your nephew who we are now calling Tiger (Theo Gavri...Roth).
go sox!!!
Miss you, can't wait to talk with you when you get back. Mucho love, N

Dave, we miss you. Come back to Musho! How is that jungle anyway? We are reading your blog and you would be surprised how many folks are, too. We were. Well, if you do decide to pop back into town, we're at Casa de Zarela tonight celebrating a birthday. PS - good thing you got outta Dodge when you did; there was a killer two day strike that stopped all vehicular movement in the department. Happy Trails

I'm reading, if only because I was in the same boat as you about this time last year. I took the malarone - I'd rather have malaria. Keep it real.
